Plum Point Lodge COVID-19 Message

Submitted by Jason Bunnell on March 27, 2020

As our customers know, there have been many positive changes at Plum Point Lodge on Seneca (formerly, the Rainbow Cove Resort) over the past two seasons.  During the winter months, we have been diligently planning other improvements and additions to the experience to be offered our customers this coming season at our extraordinary lakefront hideaway.

Chef Aiming To Be "Plum" Perfect

Submitted by Chris Lavin on September 19, 2018

The grape has been king in the Finger Lakes for some decades now. But a group of investors and one of the area’s most creative chefs are planning to give another traditional Finger Lakes fruit a new showcase. The investors renovating what was known for more than 50 years as the Rainbow Cove Motel on Seneca Lake’s west side announced this week they are naming the new restaurant in their newly renovated and renamed Plum Point Lodge on Seneca after the neighborhood’s signature fruit.

Yurts Are Rising

Submitted by Chris Lavin on August 19, 2018

Yurts are rising. Monday morning brought the first walls of the six new Yurts being added to the Plum Point Lodge inventory. Crews have finished much of the foundation and utility work required to support this new "glamping"  experience. By week's end, crews will be constructing the comfortable interiors. Stay tuned for when the first bookings will be accepted. "Glamor Camping" is the latest addition to the Plum Point Lodge's eventual transition in 2019 to the new Plum Point Lodge on Seneca. Watch here for updates as the work continues on our new Yurts.

Evening Bonfires

Submitted by Chris Lavin on August 12, 2018

One of the great elements of the Plum Point Lodge is the eclectic guests who show up around the daily evening bonfire on the property's serene lakeshore. This week included a family of nine. An amazing Atlanta couple had raised four of their own children to adulthood and then, over the years, had adopted nine children in need of new parents. The children were a testament to the value of good parenting, uniformly polite and focused. The two oldest teen girls had picked out their college targets already and all of the kids had an immediate answer to what they were reading this summer.

Sunrises

One feature of Plum Point Lodge that many guests have enjoyed over the years are the often spectacular sunrises.  On a clear day, you can be absolutely amazed.  In fact, we have a Facebook album dedicated to great sunrise photos taken by guests and staff.  The perfect morning?  Sitting on the dock with a hot cup of coffee in the cool of the morning watching the sun come up on Seneca Lake.  Seneca Lake sunrises are the best!

Food, Glorious Food

Breakfast starts at 8 a.m. and is a tradition at the Plum Point Lodge. Eggs, meat, potatoes. The basics done well. Mimosas and classic Bloody Mary’s spice it up a bit, and then on weekend evenings, the chef’s kick it up a notch. New Innkeeper Chad Kayser is a Master Barbecue and Smoker talent and spends 12 hours turning good meat into great dinners. This week featured smoked prime rib. It sold out by 7:30 p.m. this Saturday.  The lesson here: get here early on Saturday nights. Happy hour starts at 4 and dinner at 5 on Friday and Saturday.

Seneca Lake Fishing

Submitted by David Bunnell on June 08, 2018

Fishing trips from the Plum Point Lodge involve just a short stroll from room to dock as spring mornings brought a calm lake this week. No highway noise. No busy roads. Just peace, a line, and a calm lake. Perch and catfish were hitting this week as the season’s early patrons – many of the 30-year visitors to this Shangri-La – made their way from Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and Ontario to enjoy the spring scene still unfolding.
